I predict it will be one of the biggest games of the year. Keep your eyes peeled for BioShock, slated for release Spring 2007. You are not likely to find a game in this genre with a better, deeper storyline, and as much stuff to do & find & learn in the game. There are tons of reviews online about thes e games, and though they don't have the popularity of Quake & Doom, they simply must be played. System Shock environments are GIGANTIC, and if you just run and gun, your screwed. But, once you acheive access to a new area, you are not simply done with the previous area. You have various areas that require this and that before you can access it. In System Shock, you sort of don't have levels. The standard FPS game typically had a level, you beat it, go to next level. System Shock was a DOS/Windows game (Windows95) that took the 1st person shooter (FPS) genre, and gave it elements that drew you into it, instead of running and gunning. If you have never heard of System Shock, here is a crash course to bring you up to speed. This is my 2nd favorite game of all time, with the first being the sleeper hit, System Shock.
didn't work with Geforce8800GTS(my vid) + new Forceware Driver(165 or later), for me I had to degrade the driver to 163.75 in order to play. I find it well-balanced but SS2 could be too hard for casual players.
Looks too old for current standard, But there's replacements for models and textures to make things better. Starts out hard(lacking supplies and stats) but things get better, specially after Deck 4 or so. You gain strength through the story and exploration. PDA voicelogs are one of the best works done in this game. You're (almost always) alone in the spaceship and fights through terrifying monsters roaming around. It's SPECIALLY great if you played System Shock 1. I can clearly say this is one of most entertaining FPS/RPG I've played so far.
